Antique Victorian Bustle Silk Dress, c. 1878–1883 Paris Label. The skirt features horizontal bands of black trim and a structured early bustle silhouette. The bodice retains interior boning and period construction details consistent with the late 1870’s to early 1880’s.
Elegant gown was an afternoon dress or possibly worn as a wedding dress. The skirt is masterfully pieced with arches rising up with gathers under them and a graceful train. The skirt needs a waistband (see photos 12 and 13) but does have its hook and eyes to close the back.
